It is the end of November, 2007.
I've recently retired after 56 years of work and have made a list of things I'd like to do before this adventure called life is over. This bike trip of about 1500 miles along the Mississippi River from the Chicago area to New Orleans is one of those dreams.
Over the next 7 months, you'll have a chance to share the planning, training and ride with me. I hope you enjoy the trip via this vehicle with narrative and pictures as much as I think I will. Enjoy!

Last Entry Until a Day or Two Before I Leave, Sunday, May 3rd.
Too many people write too much in these journals before they leave. There is not much more to say until I start. Also, most everyone writes more than is necessary.
